From Winter Hobby to Cozy Business: My Chunky Knit Blanket Journey

A quick trip to Hobby Lobby to get the Chunky yarn we need!

It all started with a simple idea: my daughter and I were looking for a hobby to fill the dreary, cold winter months. Something to do with our hands, something creative, something cozy. We stumbled across a video tutorial on how to make chunky knit blankets, and we thought, why not?

She gave it a try - and quickly decided it wasn't her thing. But me? I was hooked.

There was something incredibly satisfying about the process. The thick, plush yarn, the calming repetition, the way each loop built on the last to create something beautiful, warm and cozy. I made my first blanket just for fun and draped it over a sofa in our living room. Before long, friends and family started asking where I bought it. When they found out I made it, they began placing requests. Some even offered to pay. And that's when Farmhouse Chunky Knits was born.

Each blanket is handcrafted with love and patience - inspired by the feeling of home, the comfort of a quiet, relaxing moment, and the warmth we all crave during life's busy seasons. They're more than just blankets. They're pieces of comfort, intentionally made for real life, real homes, and real people.

Over time, my hobby grew into a passion, and then into a small business. I began adding color options, experimenting with sizes and embracing the farmhouse aesthetic I've always loved. And because I adore all things cozy, I eventually expanded into hand-poured candles through my Farmhouse Glow line - bringing scents like baked apples, fresh pear crumble, and warm vanilla sugar into the mix.

What began as a way to pass time with my daughter during the cold months has turned into something truly special. While she moved on to other interests, I found something I truly love. And although she's no longer interested in knitting, she now sees her mom as an independent woman - taking risks, following her passion, and building something meaningful from the ground up.

That's something every young girl needs to see!
